How to keep your kid fit during monsoon

Diseases due to polluted and/or contaminated air and water increase during the monsoon due to low immunity. Common disease during monsoon are: common cold, viral fever, diarrhea, malaria, dengue, juandice, typhoid fever, etc.

Let not the immunity of the child fall. Immunity can be increased by having a healthy balanced diet having loads of vitamins and minerals.

Some tips that will help build immunity and prevent sickness during monsoon:

1. Drink boiled water.

2. Avoid street (roadside) foods.

3. Have hot to warm food.

4. Wash salads throughly.

5. Eat plenty of fruits after generous washing.

6. Prevent mosquito-bites.

7. Maintain high level of cleanliness in your kitchen.

8. Hands should be wash throughly before serving/eating.

9. Sprouts (made of different pulses) are good provided they are done at home in clean water. Saute them in a little oil and serve them as snacks.

10. Cherries, peaches and plum have high antioxidant levels to enhance immunity.

11. Boiled eggs, soya are good options too.

12. Dry cereals like cornflakes, muesli, oats should be encouraged.
