Your DNA is damaged during night shifts

A study has found that working night shifts can damage DNA thereby increasing the risk of cancer, cardiovascular, metabolic, and neurodegenerative diseases.

Siu-Wai Choi, of the University of Hong Kong said, “Although this work is very preliminary, it is clear from the results that even a single night of sleep deprivation can trigger events that may contribute to the development of chronic disease.”

However, it takes one night of sleep deprivation for the DNA to get damaged.

Avoid sleep deprivation of more than a day to reduce risk of cancer, cardiovascular, metabolic, and neurodegenerative diseases!
