Caffeine and fertility

It is advisable to go easy on caffeine in case planning to conceive.

Although evidence on caffeine is mixed, Mayo Clinic in the US suggests that too much of it might increase estrogen production or decrease estrogen metabolism.

Experts at Mayo Clinic say, ‘To protect your fertility, consider limiting the amount of caffeine in your diet to 200mg a day – about the amount in two 8-ounce (240ml) servings of coffee.’
