Instant wound healing in future

Very soon, a new protein-based gel will be able to heal wounds instantly.

The gel mimics many properties of skin and blood vessels and when exposed to light could be used in instant wound healing.

Senior author, Nasim Annabi, from the Biomedical Engineering Division, Brigham Women’s Hospital says, ‘we are interested in engineering strong elastic materials from protein because many of the tissues in the human body are elastic. If we want to use biomaterials to regenerate tissues, we need elasticity and flexibility’.
