How to recognise early signs of depression

It is important to be aware of the hidden signs of depression and not assume it is just another routine health issue. See a physician first.

Tiredness and fatigue: If you feel like sleeping most of the time and if a few hours of work make you tired and lethargic, it might be a hidden sign of depression. And just because you feel tired often, do not succumb to it because physical inactivity can only worsen the condition.

Low immunity: Another sign of depression is low immunity. Low moods can lead to lower physical activity which can greatly weaken one’s immunity. If you find yourself falling sick often, don’t ignore it; instead see a doctor.

Low motivation: If you are losing interest in going to work, or not wanting to interact with people, or having a sense of feeling as if in a miserable state of mind, these are all signs of depression.

Unusual Eating habits: Be careful if you are skipping meals during daytime and hogging at night. Unusual eating habits are known to give rise to eating disorders and weight issues which can contribute immensely to a low state of mind.

Remember these 4 signs to avoid being hit by depression.
